Spring is the perfect time to freshen up your home, but even the most thorough cleaning sessions can miss a few hidden spots. Dust, grime, and clutter build up in places we don’t think about daily. 1. Ceiling Fans & Light Fixtures

Dust and pet hair love to cling to ceiling fan blades and light fixtures, spreading allergens throughout your home. Before turning on your fan for the season, give it a good dusting with a microfiber cloth or a pillowcase to trap dust. For fixtures, wipe down glass covers and replace any dim or burnt-out bulbs while you’re at it.

2. Baseboards & Door Frames

Baseboards and door frames collect dust, dirt, and even pet hair over time. Use a vacuum with a brush attachment to remove loose debris, then wipe them down with a damp cloth or a mixture of warm water and mild soap. A dryer sheet can help repel dust longer!

3. Behind & Under Appliances

When was the last time you moved your fridge or stove? Over time, crumbs, dust, and even lost items can accumulate behind large appliances. Pull them out carefully (or use a long duster) and clean underneath and behind them. This is also a great time to vacuum your refrigerator coils to improve energy efficiency.

4. Window Tracks & Blinds

Spring clean window tracks and windows

Window tracks can collect dirt, dead bugs, and grime, making it harder to open and close windows. Use an old toothbrush and a vacuum attachment to clear out the buildup. For blinds, wipe them down with a damp cloth or a vinegar-water solution to remove dust and fingerprints.

5. Air Vents & Filters

Your HVAC system works hard all year, but dust and debris can clog vents and filters, reducing air quality. Remove vent covers and wash them in warm, soapy water. Replace air filters to keep your home’s air clean and help your system run more efficiently.

6. Underneath & Behind Furniture

Even if you vacuum regularly, dirt and dust bunnies can accumulate under sofas, beds, and dressers. Move furniture (or use a vacuum extension) to reach these hidden spots. You might even find a missing sock or two!

7. Inside Kitchen Cabinets & Drawers

It’s easy to wipe down countertops but forget about the insides of cabinets and drawers. Take everything out, toss expired or unused items, and wipe down surfaces before reorganizing. Don’t forget the junk drawer—we all have one!

8. Mattresses & Pillows

Spring cleaning your mattress

We wash our sheets often, but how often do we clean our mattresses and pillows? Vacuum your mattress, spot-clean any stains, and sprinkle baking soda on it to absorb odors before vacuuming again. Most pillows can be washed in the machine—check the care label!

9. Trash Cans & Recycling Bins

Even with a liner, trash cans can develop odors and bacteria buildup. Take them outside, give them a good scrub with disinfectant, and let them dry in the sun. For a fresh-smelling bin, sprinkle some baking soda at the bottom before inserting a new liner.

10. Behind the Toilet & Bathroom Vents

Bathrooms are a breeding ground for dust and grime, especially in hard-to-reach areas. Clean behind and around the toilet, wipe down baseboards, and scrub any buildup on bathroom vents. A quick wipe-down of light switches and door handles will also help keep things fresh!

Final Thoughts

Spring cleaning isn’t just about making your home look good—it’s about refreshing your space and getting rid of hidden dirt and allergens. Tackling these overlooked areas will leave your home feeling cleaner, fresher, and ready for the new season.
