KFC Coleslaw Knock Off

KFC Coleslaw Knock Off

This is the Only Coleslaw I Crave – My Homemade KFC-Style Slaw

Let’s be real—there are coleslaws, and then there’s KFC coleslaw. You know the one. Creamy. Sweet. Just the right tang. Finely chopped and almost drinkable 🤣. It’s the only slaw I ever really want. Not the super vinegary kind, not overly chunky, but that dreamy little paper cup version that comes with your fried chicken meal.

Except… this one? It’s even better. I promise you!

When I was little, my parents made coleslaw, it was always so good. The one side that always left my plate first! The next best was KFC. Now there is mine, and I can tell you. This IS the one!

I’ve been working this recipe out, and I finally got it, and it’s one of the easiest sides to throw together. Whether you’re making burgers, pulled pork, grilled chicken, or, like I did this week, homemade Philly cheeseburger hot pockets—this slaw very much belongs on your table.

Why this coleslaw is a must-make:

  • 🥄 It tastes just like the original—but fresher.
  • 🕒 It gets even better the next day, which means you can make it ahead for busy nights.
  • 💸 It’s budget-friendly and made from pantry staples. It’s so cost-effective!!!
  • ❤️ It’s my favorite! Like… hands down. No contest. If there’s one coleslaw I’ll never get tired of, it’s this one.

Tips for the best results:

  • Chop it fine. KFC-style slaw is all about that fine texture—it’s almost like a salad spread. A food processor or just a sharp knife works great.
  • Let it chill. Seriously, the magic happens in the fridge. Let it sit for at least a couple of hours (overnight is even better).
  • Double it. You’ll be sad when the bowl’s empty. Trust me. 🤣

Pair it with anything from a quick sandwich to a Sunday roast—or just grab a spoon and eat it right out of the bowl (no judgment here).

I hope you give this one a try and love it as much as I do. You are so worth a good homemade side dish that makes dinner feel extra special.

Happy cooking,
Love, Mrs. G 💚
“You are perfect as you are. Happy cleaning. I’ll see you in the next one. Bye-bye!”
